Music Class 2007-2008

This summer, I completed my three-summer course of training in the Kodaly Sequence for music education at James Madison University and am now a fully certified Kodaly music educator.

We have begun to utilize the larger space and the wonderful technology in the new and improved music room.

  • The Kindergarten students are continuing to learn about one and two sounds to a beat and higher and lower pitches.
  • First graders continue to work on rhythm patterns and are now ready to begin learning their first two pitches, so and mi. and where they fit on the music staff.
  • The second graders have been studying do during February.  During March and April, they will begin studying about re, which will enable them to work with the entire pentatonic scale.
  • The third graders had a wonderful program on February 26th.  Since the program, we have returned to our regular music lessons and will be learning several key concepts over the next 2-3 months.  They have begun to learn about low so and low la.
  • Fourth Graders have begun to learn about fa, which begins to take them beyond the five pitches of the penatonic scale.
